Evening Webinar: Prostate cancer in primary care: early detection and treatment options, lifestyle changes, and what patients ask

Event Details

We are delighted to welcome you to our Evening Webinar with Mr Marc Laniado who will be presenting on Prostate cancer in primary care: early detection and treatment options, lifestyle changes, and what patients ask

Prostate cancer remains the most common cancer in men in the UK. With early detection significantly improving outcomes, GPs play a crucial role in initiating appropriate testing and referrals. This 30-minute educational webinar provides an up-to-date, practical guide to PSA testing, pre-biopsy MRI, and when to refer -  including how to interpret grey-zone PSA levels and manage common patient concerns. It also prepares GPs to respond to questions about newer diagnostic tools (e.g. PSA density, PSE, Stockholm3), genetic tests and polygenic risk scores, and evolving treatments such as focal therapy (NanoKnife, HIFU) and Retzius-sparing robotic prostatectomy with NeuroSAFE, touching on single port versus multiport robotic prostatectomy surgery. Finally, the session highlights evidence-based lifestyle strategies - including dietary patterns and physical activity - shown to reduce prostate cancer progression and improve overall health.

A 15-minute Q&A will follow to address real-world clinical scenarios.

After attending this session, GPs will be able to:

  • Appropriately offer and interpret PSA testing and identify when to refer using risk-adapted pathways, and the use of MRI and PSA density.
  • Confidently respond to informed patient queries about advanced diagnostic tests (e.g. Stockholm3, PSE), polygenic risk scores and genetic tests, and modern treatment options, including treating the part of the prostate with cancer versus treating the whole prostate
  • Incorporate evidence-based lifestyle advice into consultations, including the role of diet, physical activity, and weight management in prostate cancer risk and progression.
