Appraisal and Revalidation update
Further to GMC and NHS England advice in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, all revalidation recommendations that are due to fall between now and the end of September will be automatically deferred for a year. In order to free up doctors to prioritise patient care at this time, appraisals have been suspended indefinitely. However, if neither the appraisee nor the appraiser are involved in Covid-19 related patient care, then an appraisee can request that their appraisal takes place as normal.
The IDF has confirmed that it has a sufficient number of appraisers to be able to continue to offer our appraisal service; if members would like to continue with appraisal, which will not be face to face at this time, they can do so.
Any decision to continue with appraisal at this time is optional and the IDF is offering this service as some doctors may find it helpful to have the support appraisal offers, however if members choose not to be appraised at this time, this will not reflect negatively on them or their practice in any way.
