Men's Health Strategy for England

We welcome the UK Government’s launch of its first comprehensive Men’s Health Strategy, a significant and much-needed commitment to improving outcomes for men across the country.

With a strong focus on prevention, digital health, community outreach and workplace engagement, the strategy rightly targets some of the most pressing challenges in men’s health: late diagnosis, inequalities in life expectancy and barriers to accessing care.

At the IDrF, we’re encouraged to see issues we’ve raised through our call to evidence, such as inflexible service models, stigma and under-engagement among working-age men, reflected in the strategy’s priorities.

We believe IDrF members are uniquely placed to support delivery by:

  • Piloting innovative access models  and workplace health checks
  • Supporting men with digital tools and remote monitoring for prostate, cardiovascular and metabolic health
  • Leading community and employer-based outreach to reach underserved groups
  • Contributing to the work-health agenda, helping men stay well and in work, especially in light of rising economic inactivity due to sickness.

This is a real opportunity to build a more tailored, accessible and preventative approach to men’s health and the independent sector stands ready to play its part.

We look forward to contributing to the Men’s Health Stakeholder Group, engaging with the new national training and digital tools, and supporting our members to lead the way in improving health outcomes for men across the UK.
